Transitioning out of the Raider operational lifestyle is still one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. I joined THF to simply walk and see what is on this path outside of MARSOC. In short, THF illuminated that path and brought a team of people alongside me. Now, I have clearer vision and I have a plethora of teammates with me in this next journey. Even better, the THF support is for life.
This program is a commitment. It was much more of a commitment than I expected. However, it is a life changing one, and well worth the time.
The THF Network is exceptional. I have received help from people in various walks of life all throughout the nation.
Although I am still reluctant on leaving the military, I am much better equipped and feel much more reassured than I was before THF. This program helps you put on paper and articulate your experience, your why, and your value proposition for whatever role is next. Thank you to all the Wilmington staff, volunteers, donors, and fellows!
I did not make a mistake.
I was recently sitting at the dinner table with my wife. We were casually looking up the salaries of professional athletes, what they earn in a year, what they’ve made in a decade. Some had earned hundreds of millions in less time than I’d spent serving my country.
As the numbers appeared on the screen, I felt my heart drop. I looked at my wife, and with a lump in my throat, I apologized. Not because I regretted my life, but because a part of me wished I could have given her that kind of financial abundance — that kind of ease. In that moment, I felt like I had fallen short.
I did not make a mistake. My profession gave me purpose. It demanded everything I had — my blood, my sweat, my tears — and it gave me experiences that most people can’t begin to imagine. I stood for something bigger than myself. I served the American people with everything I had, and that is something no paycheck, no contract, no dollar amount can ever replace. If I had the chance, I would do it all over again.
The Honor Foundation may not turn me into a professional athlete or make me a millionaire — but it has done something far more meaningful. It has given me hope. It has given me direction. It has given me the belief that my second career can be just as impactful as my first. THF is a second chance… one I never expected, but deeply needed.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who makes The Honor Foundation possible. You have changed my life.
THF has helped me dive deep within to discover what gives my life purpose after military service. The program has deliberately focused my efforts on the next chapter of my life with the advantage of knowing what careers I align with most. I believe I have been given a short cut to where I’m supposed to land after the military.
As a proud member of Cohort 112, I can say without hesitation that The Honor Foundation has been one of the most impactful experiences of my career transition. After 34 years of military service, with 21 of those years in SOF, stepping into the private sector was exciting, yet uncertain. The Honor Foundation provided me with not only the tools and resources to navigate that transition, but more importantly, the trusted community and guidance I needed to grow personally and professionally.
From world-class executive coaching and exceptional instructors and THF Staff, to a truly inspiring group of Fellows… now friends, every aspect of the program was thoughtfully designed and deeply meaningful. THF truly challenged me to reflect on my core values, refine my purpose… “Why,” and equip myself with a clear roadmap for this next chapter. The network I’ve built through THF continues to open incredible doors and foster meaningful relationships that are both professional and deeply personal. The Honor Foundation is far more than a transition program — it is a lifelong community of purpose-driven leaders and colleagues. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to be part of the THF Family. Thank you THF.
After 21 years in Special Operations, transitioning to the private sector seemed like the first time I jumped out of a plane – I knew lots of people had done it but would it work out for me? The Honor Foundation has given me the confidence to move in the direction of my interests and strengths while understanding what my priorities are. Without THF I know I would have chosen the wrong path and been lost in the wilderness.
