Marc Tirres, Director of Programs- Eglin
Name: Marc A. Tirres
Where were you born and raised?
I grew up a city boy from Southern California.
What’s a short story around the biggest transition you’ve faced in life?
The biggest transition I’ve had to face was most definitely getting medically retired from the military. For twenty one years, being a special operator is all I knew. It was my purpose and my identity. By the stroke of a pen, that was gone and I was soon faced with retirement, finding a new job, moving my family, and the daunting task of rediscovering who I was outside the uniform. While this was not easy, it opened my eyes to a whole new beginning, for not only myself, but my entire family. There were struggles at times, but I am absolutely certain that where I am today is where I’m supposed to be. Having this amazing opportunity to give back to a community that has given so much to me, is more than I could ever want in a career.
What’s the one piece of advice you’d give a younger you?
Surround yourself with positive people that build you up. Dream big, you really can accomplish anything you put your mind to.

I stay dedicated to my team, so that nobody wanders the cornfield alone.
How does your Why drive you to be a part of the THF Ecosystem?
I feel all Special Operators are my teammates and I want to do what I can to help them out to the best of my ability.
Military Connection or Why do you respect Special Operators?
Having been a Special Operator for the majority of my career and having the privilege of working with some of the greatest human beings on the planet, has given me nothing but respect for this community.
