Jen Rubin
Where were you born and raised?
I am a native New Yorker but was raised in Fairfield County Connecticut
What a short story around the biggest transition you’ve faced in life?
I moved to the West coast a few years ago after living 50+ years on the East coast. California, which has the lowest bar passage rate of any state, requires all private law practitioners – even those like me who have been practicing law for 25 years – to take the bar examination. I had to relearn principles of law I had not thought about in 25 years and learn some entirely new legal areas I had not encountered before. Fortunately, I passed the California bar, and was thereafter able to transition my law practice from the East coast to the West coast, and begin an entirely new and eminently rewarding second phase of my professional and personal life.
What is the one price of advice you would give a younger you?
Listen more. It is amazing what you will learn.
Your personal why?
It is tremendously satisfying to help others maximize their strengths and leverage my knowledge and expertise to their benefit.
How does your Why drive you to be a part of the THF Ecosystem of Support?
I am so very fortunate to be in a position to leverage my knowledge to assist the Fellows in their transition from service to a rewarding and fulfilling employment life in private industry.
Military Connection or Why do you respect Special Operators?
The elite of anything deserve respect. But the elite of the elite deserve the utmost respect.
Favorite THF Value and why?
Plan for achievement. I have long held the view that positive thinking and optimism is a best practice for life. To think otherwise is not an option if you want to live a fulfilling life.
