04 DOSIER:

Angie Mullennix, Director of People- Fort Bragg | Pinehurst

Name:  Angie Mullennix

Where were you born and raised?
Ossian, Indiana

What’s a short story around the biggest transition you’ve faced in life?
The greatest transition I experienced–aside from joining the Army at 17–was moving into educational leadership at the state level. I spent about six years with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as the Director of Innovative Practices and Programs and State Military Liaison, where I developed and led several statewide initiatives, including the Purple Star Award Designation, the North Carolina Promising Practices Clearinghouse, and a statewide Project-Based Learning Academy. Transitioning from the local to the state level taught me valuable lessons about fostering stakeholder engagement, managing intended and unintended consequences, and navigating North Carolina’s interconnected education, workforce, and community networks.

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give a younger you?
I’d tell my younger me to slow down, enjoy the experience, and remember everything happens for a reason. That includes the people we meet and both the good and bad times. It’s all part of the journey.

Your Personal Why?
My personal Why? is to serve and support others through life’s transitions–whether from the military to civilian life or into new leadership roles–by creating systems, connections, and environments where people feel seen, valued, and equipped to thrive.

How does your Why drive you to be a part of the THF Ecosystem?
My personal Why drives me to be part of the THF ecosystem because THF exists to guide special operations service members through one of life’s most significant transitions, aligning perfectly with my passion for supporting others and empowering people to move forward with purpose and confidence.

Military Connection or Why do you respect Special Operators?
My husband retired after 27 years’ active service in March 2024. He served 20 years of that time in a special missions unit. I never stopped being in awe of the hard work and dedication that the men and women in his unit constantly conveyed. They value our country and serve selflessly without ceasing. I am honored to be working with this population in THF.

Favorite THF Value, and why?
Laser focus because I believe in setting a goal, charting a path forward to achieve that goal, and being willing to pivot—not quit—when obstacles come in the way of that goal.

Area/Industry of expertise:
With a background in education, military, and civic affairs, I am skilled in making connections and leveraging relationships, strategic planning, curriculum and instruction, policy analysis, and organizational management.
